We took the 3 days 2 nights trekk with Kalu, and it\'s nothing like we\'ve ever done before. First of all, Kalu is an amazing guide. He speaks English very well and has great knowledge of the jungle since he\'s from a jungle village himself. So while trekking he explained a lot of stuff. Which was enriching. And he is a Chef so the food we ate in the trek was by far the best and tastiest food we ate in Thailand so far The trek by itself was just very genuine. All we did was not touristic regular paths, going from one village to another by foot, enjoy with elephant, bamboo rafting, experiencing what a real jungle villager would. We truly enjoyed the raw beauty of the jungle. Next time we come to Chiang Mai we will definetly contact Kalu and Tin for another trek. Thank you so much.

The 2-day trekking tour we did with Kalu was by far the best experience we\'ve had while traveling in Thailand. First of all, Kalu, the guide, was so nice to pass by our hotel the day before and explain the route and other details thoroughly. We set off the next morning (he picked us up) together with 3 other very nice people and we headed towards an incredible waterfall (where we could bathe) and hot springs. Kalu prepared for us a delicious lunch before we actually started trekking. During the trekking itself, he often stopped to tell us about trees and plants in the jungle - their uses or stories, about life in the jungle and the tribes living there. But the best part of the trip was staying in his jungle village (set on the riverside) for the night, enjoying a delicious dinner and spending time with his family around the bonfire, cooking sticky rice and listening to Kalu playing perfectly the guitar. If that was not magic enough, the next day we woke up to the sound of the river and after a very tasty breakfast we set off for 2 hours of bamboo rafting in the jungle, which was absolutely incredible. If you\'re looking for a personal, authentic experience, I cannot recommend this tour enough. Diverse, entertaining, it was something which will be remembered for a long time. Thank you, Kalu for a great time!!! Alex & Romain Visited October 2016

Great experience with Kalu. The original plan was to meet Kalu and his brother at the airport but somehow in the hustle we missed each other in the baggage terminal and got transportation from the airport taxi service. We met the next evening in our hotel lobby and discussed the three day trekking plan in detail. Kalu was very thorough and wanted to make sure that we had no reservations before departing. The plan was discussed for about an hour and Kalu decided to pick us up at 0800 the next morning. Kalu met us on time and we headed to a market that was about an hour north of Chiang Mai. The three of us stopped here for about 40 minutes and got some last minute necessities for the trip. Kalu shopped for cooking materials while Lisette and I got some last minute amenities. There was plenty of time to window shop as well, as there are so many exotic foods on display. We got some coffee and departed shortly after. The next three days were an experience that Lisette and I will never forget. Kalu introduced us to his family and friends throughout two different tribes in the Jungle. Our eyes were opened to how time plays to ones advantage and we were able to experience a glimpse of the culture that Kalu calls home. Kalu was there every step of the way with an interesting fact, a song or a challenge. The food was prepared by Kalu and was always incredible, it was also nice to walk the jungle with Kalu because he knew what was edible. We often enjoyed snacks from the surrounding growth or picked things up that would later add to our dinner. I highly recommend this small business; Kalu, and the things he shows you, make this a one of a kind experience. It was the highlight of two-week stay in Thailand.

Must do in Chiang Mai!” Booked the tour after finding a leaflet in a local restaurant in Chiang Mai. We were planning to explore the national park on our visit to the city, but with no local knowledge of how to get there, or more importantly, knowledge of the park itself we thought it would be best to book with a \\\'guide\\\'. Our expectations of what the \\\'Amazing Trekking Tour\\\' would entail were a large group of us who were taken the park simply for a walk, swim and an average meal. However, on pick up at our hotel we were greeted by our guide, Kalu. Kalu came across as a very friendly and kind man with great excitement and genuine love for what he does, with his self- given nickname, the jungle man, reflecting this. When we asked where else we would be stopping off to collect fellow walkers he explained that \\\'he only normally does around 2-6 people\\\' and today it would only be us, a stark contrast to many tours we have experienced in the past. This made the tour 100x more enjoyable as we had more time with the guide. We firstly stopped at the waterfall and it was fantastic. As it was early we were the only ones there and Kalu happily took pictures for us which was fantastic. Secondly, we travelled to a small village where we began our hike to the village in the jungle. On this hike Kalu taught us what different plants and animals were and gave great guidance. He even made us a cup out of bamboo and gave us a chocolate bar which was further evidence of how this tour exceeded our expectations on the day. After we arrived at his local village we were greeted by his father and nephew. We were cooked an unbelievable meal consisting of tofu noodles, spring rolls and fruits. After the meal we were taught by his father how to us a cross bow, another amazing experience. To top the great day off we then began the bamboo raft down the river. We fished and directed the ship in turns while passing the jungle. An unbelievable day topped off perfectly. Kalu is the best guide we have had. He is enthusiastic about the jungle and all it entails which is clearly evident. For the experience the price we paid could have been more! If you have a chance to do one tour in Chiang Mai make sure it is this one, you won\\\'t be disappointed. Just make sure you bring the insect repellent! Elliot and Faye.
